Simple Vegan Chocolate Smoothie

Human beings are protein machines.

All the way down to our DNA, there are instructions for building our brain, digestive system, muscles, immune cells, and so much more out of protein building blocks. To build new structures, we must provide our bodies with the raw materials required in order to make this happen. You can’t build muscle out of chocolate ice cream and Doritos (believe me, I tried).

You know I have been drinking smoothies on the reg for a wee while now (except for last week while I was on holiday ha). And the base always consists of some sort of protein. But here is the thing, I have now given in and decided to try a blend of vegan protein (consisting of pea protein isolate, brown rice protein and hemp protein).

What does this mean? Well, it means that I am getting all of my essential amino acids in and just a good enough protein hit with every beverage. Decided to keep this smoothie combo as simple as possible, because I hate overly complicated recipes. Exhausting ingredients list means two things to me. It takes me a long time to source everything and two, typically after one use, I find certain ingredients are slowly being pushed to the back of the cupboard/fridge and they then end up getting chucked out. Before I ramble on any more, the other main ingredient here is avocado. This will give our smoothie a lovely, creamy texture.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
  • 1/4 avocado.
  • 1 scoop of chocolate vegan blend protein.

Preparation instructions:

  • Add everything to a blender and blend until creamy.
