With the summer festivities fast approaching, managing freelance work, shopping, family, friends, gym and other social commitments alongside a full time job has never been so difficult. It’s non-stop go, go, go!
Midweek I made some last minute plans for the weekend ahead so I had to fit in a haircut for this event. But because my diary is all over the place at the moment, I missed my appointment with Alan at Groom On The Green (he consistently provides me with the highest quality service). I therefore had no choice but to take the plunge and pluck up the courage to try elsewhere. This is where The BlindBarber stepped in.
For a while lately I have been trying to get into the whole grooming thing seeing as my facial hair is slowly but surely growing! A few minutes in the salon and I knew it was a special place. The BlindBarber founder, Darren, explained he wanted to create a totally unique, yet traditional barbering experience. While offering excellent service, he wanted to create a traditional atmosphere in the shop where customers would have to take a seat and wait their turn rather than just turn up for appointments and leave.
Within a few minutes of setting foot in the shop I knew this place was for me. They’ve done an extremely good job of creating an environment that is both, traditional and masculine. Wooden & steel furnishings complimented by cool ‘dude’ touches everywhere mixed with exposed brickwork and traditional home comforts, well and truly creates a welcoming space; as well as the ideal hangout for any regular gentlemen and rogues. With the chair layout in an L-shape (as oppose to the the standard all-in-a-line job) they managed to create a shared and interactive social feel.
Because I was very limited for time, my treatment only consisted of a haircut but it then extended ever so slightly to a quick ‘beard’ re-shape. All the while I couldn’t help noticing the gent next to me relaxing back whilst getting a cut-throat shave around his majestic beard followed by a hot towel, all ending with a touch of cologne, assuring me they have an extensive list of services. Overall I had a fantastic experience and Darren’s thoughtful and charming attention to detail was greatly appreciated given the occasion for my visit. So if you find yourself in the area and in need of some touch ups, I strongly recommend you check them out!
