Broadway Brunch

It is a little known fact that I am not very good with my money. I like to spend. By the time the wage is in, my online cart is already full. And I know I am not the only one who does this… Right? 🤔 And with so many monthly outgoings rinsing our accounts for almost every penny we own, lets face it, not many of us have the luxury of a holiday home to escape to when we need it… Maybe we should just move to New Zealand, where having a bach (a small holiday home or beach house) to unwind is an iconic part of the country’s history and culture.

OK, if that’s not realistic then the closest we’re getting to a bach is this Kiwi style café found either on Broadway Market or Hoxton Street.

The Bach serves coffee, brekkie and brunch as well as additional daily fresh salads and lunch options from the fridge and counter. I went for the brunch. Having gone up to Essex to visit dad for the weekend, on our way back, my brother and I shared the spicy sweet potatoes, falafel, hummus and avocado dish alongside the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Everything gets a pass except for the spicy sweet potato dish. I wasn’t blown away by it– yes it was good, but too simple for my liking. The meal made for a good enough casual outing, but not the mind-blowing culinary experience I thought I’d let myself in for. The warm toasted banana bread and All Press coffee beans did hit the spot though.

The bright, shabby wooden decor and chilled vibe definitely makes The Bach worth a visit though. Even if it’s just for an oat cappuccino and a read looking out on to Broadway Market.

I would definitely recommend a stroll down Broadway Market btw. There are loads of cool shops, cafes and restaurants to explore!
